Multiownership: Girona & Man. City in Champions League, Man. United & Nice in Europa League (UEFA)

Girona FC (LALIGA EA Sports) and Manchester City FC (Premier League), who qualified for the 2024-25 Champions League at the end of the 2023-24 season while sharing a common shareholder (City Football Group), will be able to take part in the European competition, announced UEFA on 05/07/2024. The same applies to Manchester United FC (Premier League) and OGC Nice (Ligue 1 McDonald's), whose common shareholder is the INEOS group (petrochemicals), who will play in the Europa League.

The First Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) had opened proceedings in each of these two cases "due to a potential conflict with the multi-club ownership rule provided for in Article 5 of the UEFA club competitions regulations."
