The Public Investment Fund (PIF, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund) and RB Sports & Media, a private equity fund based in England, are increasing their stakes in Newcastle United FC (Premier League) as part of a "change in ownership structure," announced the club on 12/07/2024.

The two parties, who acquired ownership of Newcastle United in October 2021 alongside PCP Capital Partners in a deal valued at £300m (€353m), are buying back the shares in this third entity. The PIF will own 85% of the club's share capital and RB Sports & Media will hold 15% following completion of the transactions, which is expected "during July 2024."

"The ownership group, together with CEO Darren Eales and the club's executive team, will continue to build on these foundations (established since the takeover of Newcastle at the end of 2021) for long-term, sustainable success for the team and our amazing fans, and we are excited about the future prospects for Newcastle United," said Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of NUFC and Governor of the PIF.
