Valencia CF: planning permission to restart work on the Nou Mestalla within a maximum of 6 months

Valencia City Council (Spain) has granted Valencia CF (LALIGA EA Sports) planning permission to start work on the new Mestalla, announced the club on 12/07/2024.

The City Council will initiate administrative proceedings against the club if one or more of the following conditions are not met:
• Work to start within a maximum of six months from 12/07;
• Work to be completed within 30 months, i.e. by January 2027;
• Financial guarantees to be provided if the start date is not met or if work is interrupted again.

Construction of the Nou Mestalla began in 2007, but was halted in February 2009 due to a lack of funds. On 10/03/2015, Valencia CF acquired the site for the new stadium in the Benicalap district from the Autonomous Community of Valencia for €45.4m, payable until 2024. The agreement required the club to complete the first phase of the stadium's construction (commercial areas, annexes, sports centre) by May 2021.
