Italy: "Greater representation of the Lega Serie A in the federal system" (Lorenzo Casini)

"The approval of the amendment to the decree on sport and education by the Chamber of Deputies' Culture and Sport Committee will give Lega Serie A greater representation in the federal system," said Lorenzo Casini, president of the Lega Serie A, on 11/07/2024. The Lega Serie A currently has three representatives (Lorenzo Casini, Claudio Lotito and Giuseppe Marotta) on the FIGC Federal Council, which has 21 members (14.2%).

This amendment, proposed by Giorgio Mulè (Forza Italia), vice-president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, enables professional sports leagues to obtain "fair representation on the governing bodies of national sports federations, taking into account the economic contribution they make to the sports system."
