Formula 1: BP (petrol) Audi's first partner for its entry into F1 in 2026

British oil and gas producer BP is to become the exclusive sponsor and technical partner of Audi Formula 1 Team as it enters Formula 1 for the 2026 season, announced the German car manufacturer on 16/07/2024.

• The brand is the first to commit to the team, whose entry into F1 was made official by Formula One Group on 08/03/2024. Audi has acquired 100% of the shares in Sauber Motorsport, the Swiss company that owns the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber team.
• The German manufacturer's arrival coincides with the entry into force of the new power unit regulations, which include "increased electrical power and 100% sustainable fuels". Audi had made its entry into the sport conditional on becoming "more sustainable" on 07/04/2022.

As part of the agreement, BP will develop for the team a "FIA-specified advanced sustainable fuel" that "must achieve greenhouse gas emissions savings relative to fossil-derived petrol of at least 65%". Its subsidiary Castrol will be responsible for supplying "a range of bespoke Castrol lubricants and greases," said Audi.
