NWSL: Angel City valued at $250m following its acquisition by B. Iger (Walt Disney Company) & W. Bay

Journalist Willow Bay and her husband Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, have reached a definitive agreement to purchase the NWSL franchise of Angel City FC, according to the Los Angeles club on 17/07/2024. The deal values ACFC at $250m (€229m), "the highest valuation ever for a women's professional sports team."

The transaction "is subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of NWSL." Upon completion, Willow Bay will sit on the board of directors and will be considered the owner of the club. She will also represent Angel City on the North American League's board of directors. Willow Bay and Bob Iger "will invest an additional $50m to support the club's future growth," added Iger.

"In 2023, ACFC generated the highest revenue of any women’s team in the world. The club was #1 in NWSL attendance, sponsorship revenue and total revenue, and has the largest season ticket membership," said Angel City.
