Bundesliga/2.Bundesliga: a record 20.7 million tickets sold by the 36 clubs in 2023-24

Germany's 36 professional football clubs (18 in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga) sold a record total of 20.7 million tickets in 2023-24 (an average of 575,000 per club), announced the Deutsche Fußball Liga on 19/07/2024.

The 2023-24 season thus beats by nearly 5% the previous record set in 2022-23, when 19.7 million tickets were purchased by fans. The 2023-24 season in Germany's top two divisions also saw an unprecedented average home attendance of 33,885.

Of the 20.7 million tickets sold in 2023-24, 11.9 million (57.5%) were sold by top division clubs (an average of 660,000 per club), whose matches drew an average of 38,973 paying spectators. This figure is below the record reached in 2018-19, with an average of 42,738 tickets purchased per match.

By contrast, sales of tickets for second division matches reached a new record, with 8.8 million tickets sold in 2023-24, also a record average of 28,796 per match, up nearly 30% on the 2022-23 season.
