FC Girondins de Bordeaux: club "accepts" relegation to National 1 by the DNCG & withdraws appeal

"FC Girondins de Bordeaux has withdrawn its appeal against the DNCG's decision dated 09/07/2024. As a result, the club accepts the sanction of administrative relegation to National 1 for the 2024-25 season and will be summoned again to present its budget to the DNCG," announced the French club on 23/07/2024.

"While discussions had resumed in recent days, representatives of Fenway Sports Group indicated on 22/07 to FC Girondins de Bordeaux and its shareholder (Gérard Lopez) their intention not to pursue the matter, despite assurances given by various stakeholders," said the club, justifying its decision.

This decision comes just hours before the club is due to appear before the FFF's appeals commitee, scheduled for Tuesday 23/07. FC Girondins de Bordeaux, 12^th in Ligue 2 BKT in 2023-24, had been relegated to National 1 by the Commission de contrôle des clubs professionnels (Professional Clubs Control Committee) in application of article 11 of the DNCG regulations, as part of the examination of the situation of clubs for the 2024-25 season, on 09/07/2024.
