IOC: Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games 2034 to be held in Salt Lake City (Utah, USA)

"Salt Lake City-Utah (United States) will host the XXVII Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2034," announced the IOC following the decision taken by the members of the world body during the International Olympic Committee's 142nd Session, at the Porte Maillot Convention Centre in Paris (FRA), on 24/07/2024.

The American city, which will be hosting the Winter Games for the second time, 32 years after the 2002 edition, received 83 votes in its favour (93.2%) out of 89 votes cast (6 votes against and 6 abstentions), at 12:20 CET, exactly two hours after the 2030 Winter Olympic Games were awarded to the French Alps.

The IOC executive board which met in Paris on 29/11/2023 had invited the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to a "focused dialogue" with a view to awarding the 2034 Winter Games to Salt Lake City.
