The 142nd Session elected the Moroccan Nawal El Moutawakel (Olympic champion in the 400 m hurdles in Los Angeles in 1984) and the Argentinian Gerardo Werthein as vice-presidents of the IOC, "whose terms of office will start on 10/08/2024 after the conclusion of the IOC Session, when the terms of John Coates (AUS) and Ser Miang Ng (SGP) will come to an end," announced the International Olympic Committee on 24/07/2024.

"Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski (PHI) was also re-elected for a second term to the IOC executive board (EB), and Li Lingwei (CHN) was elected as an EB member. The term for the EB members is four years," added the IOC.

"Eight new IOC members - four women and four men - were elected and took the oath during the Session meetings today. The terms of office for six of the members will begin immediately, while one will start at the end of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and one on 01/01/2025," stated the world body.

47 of the 111 IOC members are now women, i.e. 42%. Of the 111 members, 43 are athletes who have taken part in the Olympic Games (23 women and 20 men).
