AS Roma: new stadium plans presented to the Mayor of Rome with 2027 as the target completion date

Lina Souloukou and Ryan Friedkin, CEO and vice president respectively of AS Roma (Serie A Enilive), have presented the club's plans for a new stadium to Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome (ITA), on 24/07/2024.

The project calls for the stadium to be built in the Pietralata district in the north-east of Rome, with a target completion date of 2027, to celebrate the club's centenary. The stadium, which will have a modular capacity of between 55,000 and 62,000 depending on the type of event hosted, will have a "modern design", the largest south curve in Europe and will "enhance the fan experience," according to the club.

"Both parties discussed and agreed on a roadmap to advance the project, including the establishment of working groups that will focus on various aspects of the development. These groups will ensure that the project proceeds smoothly, with careful attention to environmental standards and community engagement," added AS Roma.

The cost of the work is estimated at between €520m and €570m, and will be entirely financed by the American Friedkin Group, which owns AS Roma. The…
