Ligue 1 TV rights (2024-2029): agreement with DAZN (€400m), exit clause after two seasons (press)

The board of directors of the Ligue de Football Professionnel has confirmed the awarding of domestic broadcasting rights for the Ligue 1 McDonald's to the OTT sports platform DAZN for the 2024-2029 cycle (five seasons), according to the French sports daily L'Équipe on 25/07/2024.

DAZN will broadcast eight Ligue 1 games (out of nine) per matchday on an exclusive basis for a fee of €400m per year. An exit clause is included in the agreement after two seasons (i.e. at the end of the 2025-26 season) if the platform does not reach the threshold of 1.5 million subscribers, according to l'Équipe.

The offer from the pay-TV group beIN SPORTS France to broadcast one game per matchday (€100m per season) has not yet been approved by the LFP. Discussions are still underway regarding an exit clause after two or three seasons and the possibility of beIN including sponsorship rights in its offer of up to 20% (or €20m), according to L'Équipe.
