USA: NBA's domestic TV rights awarded to Disney, NBC & Amazon for the 2025-2036 cycle ($76bn)

The US media and entertainment conglomerate The Walt Disney Company (owner of ESPN Group), broadcasting group NBCUniversal and US e-commerce group Amazon have acquired the domestic broadcasting rights to the NBA for the 2025-2036 cycle (eleven seasons), announced the North American league on 24/07/2024 (see game breakdown below).

The NBA had already approved the award of the North American league's domestic TV rights to these three broadcasters on 16/07/2024. The media and entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, the current broadcaster of the NBA in the United States until 2025 (along with ESPN), had decided to apply its "matching clause" to the bid submitted by Amazon. "The league notified us of its intention to accept other offers for the games in our current rights package, leaving us to proceed under the matching rights provision, which is an integral part of our current agreement and the rights we have paid for under it," said the conglomerate on 22/07/2024.
