Paris 2024: Alibaba launches OBS Cloud 3.0, a tool to make the work of rights holders more efficient

Alibaba Cloud, a Chinese company specialised in cloud and digital technology, has activated its partnership with the IOC and has launched OBS Cloud 3.0 in collaboration with Olympic Broadcasting Services (the IOC subsidiary responsible for producing images of the Games) to make the work of media rights holders "easier and more efficient," announced the subsidiary of Alibaba Group (a Chinese group specialised in e-commerce) on 26/07/2024.

"As part of OBS Cloud 3.0, OBS Live Cloud has become the main method of remote distribution to media rights holders for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, taking over from satellite which was launched during the Olympics Games Tokyo 1964. For Paris 2024, two-thirds of booked remote services (across 54 broadcasters) are now using OBS Live Cloud including 2 Ultra High Definition (UHD) broadcasters. 379 video (11 UHD, 368 HD) and 100 audio feeds will be transmitted via the Live Cloud," explained the company.
