Paris 2024: 23.4 million viewers for the Olympic opening ceremony on France 2

The Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games drew an average of 23.4 million viewers on the public TV channel France 2 (France Télévisions) on Friday 26/07/2024 (from 19:30 CET), according to data from the audience measurement institute Médiamétrie, communicated by France Télévisions.

This figure represented an audience share of 83.3%. A peak of 25.2 million viewers was recorded at 21:56. This was the highest audience of the year for all channels combined, and the highest audience ever for the channel. The ceremony was also broadcast on the channels of the pay-TV group Eurosport (Warner Bros. Discovery).

It was also the second-best audience ever in France, behind the 2022 World Cup final (Argentina - France), which drew an average of 24.08 million viewers on the French private free-TV channel TF1 on Sunday 18/12/2022 (kick-off at 16:00), according to Médiamétrie (audience share: 81%).
