Manchester United FC (Premier League), which has set up a task force dedicated to the redevelopment of the Old Trafford area (Manchester, ENG) in March 2024, is due to make a decision on the future of its stadium at the end of 2024, according to the British press.

While the task force is examining the possibility of renovating Old Trafford and that of building a new stadium, it is the latter solution that is favoured - after four meetings - by the committee and British businessman Jim Ratcliffe, who became a minority shareholder (25%) in the club in February 2024, according to British press.

The construction of a new 100,000-capacity stadium, at a total cost of £2bn (€2.37bn) and a six-year construction period, would allow the club to continue playing at Old Trafford until the stadium is completed. On the other hand, renovating the 74,879-seat stadium, at an estimated cost of £1.2bn (€1.42bn), would mean matches played in front of a smaller crowd and work lasting almost as long.
