Confederation of African Football: opening of an internal investigation into the CAF Secretariat

"The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has requested its Audit and Governance Committee to investigate allegations of breach of its internal Governance and Auditing Regulations within the CAF Secretariat," announced the body on 01/08/2024.

According to The Guardian, Véron Mosengo-Omba, general secretary of CAF since 13/03/2021, is being targeted after a report issued several months ago and brought to the attention of CAF's executive committee on 30/07/2024 refers in particular to "a stressful, unethical and unprofessional environment within the CAF administration" for which he is allegedly responsible.

"My efforts to turn around and regularize this institution, which has been disrespected at times, are being sabotaged by an out-of-the-blue report containing grievances without documented proof. The planned independent investigation will expose the falsity and origin of this report," said Véron Mosengo-Omba on X.
