Premier League: submission of bids until 06/02/2015 for the 2016-2019 domestic TV rights

Broadcasters interested in obtaining UK audiovisual rights to the Barclays Premier League matches for the 2016-2019 cycle, had to submit their bids to the Premier League before Friday, 06/02/2015. The Premier League issued the first two ITTs (Invitations to Tender) for the domestic broadcasting rights for the 2016-2019 cycle of the first English division on 12/12/2014.

The ITTs relate to the live broadcasting rights to 168 matches per season (in five lots of 28 matches and two lots of 14 matches, and no bidder can acquire more than 126 matches per season), as well as the rights to broadcast, on free-TV, highlights and summaries of the 380 matches of the championship each season. The latter were acquired by the British public service broadcaster BBC on 29/01/2015 for a total of €271.5 million for the period.

The seven lots of domestic broadcast rights to the 2013-2016 Premier League cycle were sold for a total of £3.018bn (€3.8bn on 06/02/2015), said the league on 12/12/2014. The sales of the 2016-2019 domestic TV rights to the Premier League are expected to reach between £4bn and…
