Borussia Mönchengladbach: departure of Stephan Schippers, CEO of the club for 25 years

Stephan Schippers, CEO of Borussia Mönchengladbach (Bundesliga) for the last 25 years, asked the executive board "shortly after the end of last season (2023-24) to terminate his contract, which was due to run until June 2026," announced the club on 07/08/2024.

"After numerous lengthy discussions and concluding the search for a new CEO, the club has granted his wish. The remaining executive board still consists of Roland Virkus (board member for sport) and Markus Aretz (board member for communication, marketing, digital transformation and CSR)," added Borussia Mönchengladbach.

"We agreed to Stephan Schippers' initially surprising request due to the exceptional service he's given to our club. We truly regret the fact that he wants leave Borussia, but fully respect his decision. We're pleased that we've found an extremely suitable replacement for him and that we will have an orderly transition. We can't yet reveal who that is out of respect for their current club, but we’ll be able to announce it shortly," said Rainer Bonhof, president of the German club.
