Tennis: record prize money of $75m (€68.6m) for the 2024 US Open, an increase of 15.4%

The prize money for the 2024 edition of the US Open Grand Slam tournament, which runs from 26/08 to 08/09/2024, has reached a record $75m (€68.6m), up 15.4% (+$10m) on 2023 ($65m) and 31% on 2019 ($57.24m), according to the United States Tennis Association (USTA), organiser of the competition, on 07/08/2024.

"All rounds played this year in Queens will see an increase in the prize money awarded from last year, which was the 50th year of equal prize money for men and women at the US Open (since 1973)," explained the USTA.

The men's and women's singles winners will take home a record $3.6m (€3.3m, +20% on 2023), the singles finalists $1.8m (€1.64m, +20%), while the men's and women's doubles champions will receive $750,000 (€686,000, +7.1%).

For the first time, those eliminated in the first round of the main singles draw will walk away with $100,000 (€91,500), an increase of 23%. "Over the last five years, first-round main draw US Open prize money has increased by 72% ($58,000 in 2019).
