FC Girondins de Bordeaux: club appeals its relegation to National 2

"FC Girondins de Bordeaux has appealed against the decision of the DNCG's federal commission to relegate the club to National 2," announced the French club on 08/08/2024.

"The club considers that the success of its restructuring, which began with the opening of the receivership procedure, necessarily depends on its return to the top flight of French football as quickly as possible. It has therefore decided to do everything in its power to ensure that it is maintained in National 1, taking advantage of the time allowed for appeals to gather the information and supporting documents in response to the points raised by the committee," added the Girondins.

"A number of significant points remain to be finalised, including those already raised by previous DNCG committees relating to the stadium," continued the club. In particular, discussions are underway with the Bordeaux Metropolitan Council to occupy the Matmut-Atlantique free of charge in 2024-25, in return for an annual rent of €4.7m paid to date.
