Paris 2024: a record 1.078 million spectators for the men's & women's Olympic basketball

A record 1,078,319 spectators attended the men's and women's basketball tournament games at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, according to FIBA on 11/08/2024.

The previous record for cumulative attendance for this sport at the Olympics was set in 1996 in Atlanta (USA), with 1,068,032 spectators. The Atlanta mark was beaten as only 52 basketball games took place in 2024, compared with 92 in 1996.

Paris 2024 basketball games posted an average attendance of 20,737. This average reached 21,711 for the men's games and 19,763 fans for the women's games.

The Olympic basketball tournaments began with the group phase held at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Villeneuve d'Ascq (near Lille in the north of France) in basketball configuration, i.e. with a capacity of 27,360.
