ReportCalcio 2024: "4.6 million participants and a turnover of €6bn" (G. Gravina, FIGC)

"34 million tifosi (fans), 4.6 million participants, and 1.4 million registered members of FIGC; a direct turnover of over €6bn and an indirect and induced impact on the Italian GDP of 11.3 billion, with nearly 130,000 jobs created annually and an annual fiscal contribution exceeding €3.3bn. These are just some of the figures that substantiate how the football sector represents an Asset for our country, both economically and socially," said Gabriele Gravina, FIGC president, in a foreword to the "ReportCalcio 2024" published by the Italian Football Federation on 07/08/2024.

This 14^th edition of ReportCalcio, an annual report on Italian and international football, is produced by the Italian Football Federation's Study Centre, in collaboration with AREL (Agenzia di Ricerche e Legislazione/Italian Research and Regulation Agency) and the audit and consultancy firm PwC Italia.

"In the 2022-23 season, registered players surpassed pre-Covid-19 levels, growing by 5.6% compared to 2021-22 and by 31.9% compared to the season most affected by the pandemic, 2020-21 (+270,000 players).
