2024-25 Ligue 1 McDonald's: all you need to know about the 20 clubs in the French top flight

Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the last three editions of the French top flight (2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24), are putting their title on the line again from Friday 16/08/2024, the start date of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 McDonald's season.

Three Ligue 1 clubs have qualified directly for the new league phase of the Champions League (this new format replaces the old group stage, including the Europa League and Conference League). As well as Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco FC (2^nd last season) will be taking part in the competition, as will Stade Brestois 29 (3^rd) for the first time ever. LOSC Lille (4^th), who eliminated Fenerbahçe SK (Süper Lig) in the 3^rd qualifying round, will join them if they beat Slavia Prague (Czech First League) in the play-offs on 20 or 21 (first leg) and 27 or 28/08/2024 (second leg).

In the Europa League, Ligue 1 will be represented by OGC Nice (5^th) and Olympique Lyonnais (6^th), as well as LOSC Lille if they fail to make the Champions League play-offs, while RC Lens will take part in the Conference League play-offs, a prerequisite for reaching the league phase…
