Paris 2024/American universities: 330 medals won by 272 NCAA student-athletes

272 former, current or future student-athletes (registered for 2024-25) on the American university sports circuit organised by the NCAA won 330 medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, announced the NCAA on 14/08/2024.

In detail, these student-athletes won 126 gold medals, 96 silver medals and 108 bronze medals. 58% of the gold medallists were women. 183 of the 272 medal-winning student-athletes (i.e. 67%) represented the United States, the nation that topped the medals table at these Olympic Games (40 gold, 44 silver and 42 bronze, for a total of 126 medals), ahead of China (91 medals in total, including 40 gold, 27 silver and 24 bronze).

These medal-winning athletes represent 26 different countries and competed in 21 sports. "NCAA schools sent more than 1,000 (1,238) former, current and incoming student-athletes who represented more than 100 different countries to this year's Olympics," according to the American sports association. Five of these 272 athletes represented France (Clément Secchi, Gabby Williams, Kevin Tillie, Léon Marchand and Maximilien Chastanet).
