Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: IPC partners with TikTok after an agreement signed with YouTube

The International Paralympic Committee has teamed up with the social network TikTok as part of "a strategic framework focused on engaging fans" ahead of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, announced the IPC on 22/08/2024, the day after it signed a broadcasting agreement with YouTube (see below).

The committee has had a TikTok account ("@paralympics") since the end of 2020 and now has 4.5 million followers, has generated "nearly 2 billion video views" and has 168 million "likes" on its videos, while "#Paralympics has garnered over 40,000 posts," according to TikTok data. Through this collaboration, the social network owned by the Chinese group ByteDance plans "to engage global audiences in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and further the development of Para sport globally," explained TikTok.

During the Paralympic Games, the IPC's TikTok account will offer "more than 400 clips of the best sporting action" as well as live content, via the TikTok LIVE service, from "the opening and closing ceremonies, tours of event venues, interviews with Paralympians, friends and family of athletes, fans…
