2024-25 Ligue 1 McDonald's: Matchday 2 not broadcast in Brazil after several geoblocking bypasses

Brazilian streamer Casimiro "Cazé" Miguel, broadcaster of the Ligue 1 McDonald's in Brazil over the 2024-2027 cycle, has not broadcast the matches from Matchday 2 of the 2024-25 French top flight after being informed "that French users were using methods to bypass geoblocking and watch broadcasts in France on some of its partner platforms," said the streamer via X on 24/08/2024.

"Geoblocking is a technology that restricts access to content based on the user's geographical location, using various tools to determine where they are accessing the content from. In the case of CazéTV, which only has the rights to broadcast Ligue 1 in Brazil, broadcasts cannot be viewed in other countries, such as France," explained the streamer.

"As a precautionary measure, CazéTV has decided not to broadcast this weekend's matches (from 23 to 25/08/2024) until all distribution platforms have guaranteed that the content is correctly blocked for users outside Brazil. Broadcasts will resume for the next matchday, with the assurance that geoblocking is effectively working for all users outside Brazil," added…
