US Open 2024: a record 216,029 spectators for the free week of qualifying matches (+37%)

A record 216,029 spectators attended the 2024 US Open qualifying matches at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York (USA) from 19 to 25/08/2024, announced the organisers of the Grand Slam tournament on 26/08/2024.

Access to the site has been free for fans during this qualifying week since 1978, when the American tournament moved to Flushing Meadows in Queens. However, a number of promotional and entertainment events, such as concerts and exhibition matches, are still subject to a fee.

37% more spectators than in 2023 (around 158,000 fans) took part in the "Fan Week", as it has been called since 2017, with the introduction of musical events, children's activities and workshops, racquet giveaways (by Wilson), etc. The traditional Arthur Ashe Kids' Day also set a new attendance record, with 47,875 people taking part on Saturday 24/08/2024. 56,000 spectators took part in this qualifying week in 2011, almost four times less than in 2024.
