Euro 2024: a total impact of €7.44bn for Germany & an organisational cost of €649.9m

Euro 2024 in Germany generated an economic impact of €6.776bn for the host country, according to a report published by the UK consultancy Nielsen Sports on 27/08/2024. To this sum €571m generated by media coverage of the event and €95m in social impact must be added, for a total impact of €7.442bn.

The competition took place in 10 cities: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.

It cost €649.6m to organise, of which €357.3m (55%) was invested by UEFA and Euro 2024 GmbH (a joint venture between the European Confederation and the DFB) and €292.3m (45%) by the host cities.

Of the €6.776bn economic impact, which represents 91% of the revenue generated by the event, €2.063bn (30.4%) came directly from spending by ticket holders (€711.3m), organisers (€649.6m) and accredited guests (€237.5m), while the remaining €4.713bn (69.6%) corresponds to the indirect and induced impact of the competition.
