Vincent Labrune (current president of the LFP), Cyril Linette (former managing director of PMU and L'Équipe), Gervais Martel (former president of RC Lens) and Karl Olive (MP for Yvelines) are the four candidates (for three places) for an independent position on the board of directors of the Ligue de Football Professionnel who have been granted sponsorship by Foot Unis, announced the French professional football clubs' union following its general meeting on 29/08/2024. "All of the professional football clubs in the Ligue 1 Mcdonald's, Ligue 2 BKT and National 1 (46 clubs) were present or represented."

Three other candidates in the running - Christophe Bouchet (former president and shareholder of Olympique de Marseille), Alain Guerrini (president of Panini France) and Stéphane Martin (former president of FC Girondins de Bordeaux) - did not, however, obtain this support from the clubs, a necessary condition, according to article 17 of the LFP's statutes, for standing for election to the LFP's board of directors as an independent member. Sponsorship from the UAF is also required.
