FIFA: a record 11,000 international transfers during the 2024 summer transfer window & $6.46bn spent

Men's professional football clubs made a record 11,000 international transfers during the 2024 summer transfer window (from 01/06 to 02/09/2024), up 0.6% on 2023 (4,387), according to the "International Transfer Snapshot" report on the latest transfer window published by FIFA on 03/09/2024.

Clubs closed the second highest-spending summer window with $6.46bn in transfer fees (€5.83bn), down 12.2% on the record $7.36bn (€6.87bn) recorded in 2023.

Of the 11,000 international transfers, 6,270 (57%) involved free players (no compensation to be paid), a figure down on 2023 (8,140 transfers).

English clubs accounted for both the highest number of player transfers (526 arrivals and 523 departures) and the highest expenditure ($1.69bn/€1.53bn). English clubs also recorded the highest transfer revenues ($1.25m/€1.13m).

In women's football, the number of international transfers is up 106% compared to 2023, with a record 1,125 transfers recorded, 109 of which resulted in a payment from the host club ($6.2m/€5.6m in total).
