Chelsea FC (Premier League) is the club from the European Top 5 leagues to have spent the most on building its squad for 2024-25, with €1.263bn spent on transfer fees for "their current squad members (both permanently or on loan)," according to the CIES Football Observatory in its "Weekly Post" published on 04/09/2024, which presents the Top 100 teams according to the cost of assembling their squad for the current season.

The London club has moved up one place since last season. Chelsea share the podium with two other English clubs: Manchester United FC (€1.038bn), 1^st in 2023-24, and Manchester City FC (€1.017bn). Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 McDonald's), the leading French club and 4^th in the ranking in 2023-24, are in 6^th place in 2024-25 (€772m).
