Transfers: Chelsea have the most expensive squad (€1.26bn) in the European Top 5 in 2024-25 (CIES)

Chelsea FC (Premier League) is the club from the European Top 5 leagues to have spent the most on building its squad for 2024-25, with €1.263bn spent on transfer fees for "their current squad members (both permanently or on loan)," according to the CIES Football Observatory in its "Weekly Post" published on 04/09/2024, which presents the Top 100 teams according to the cost of assembling their squad for the current season.

The London club has moved up one place since last season. Chelsea share the podium with two other English clubs: Manchester United FC (€1.038bn), 1st in 2023-24, and Manchester City FC (€1.017bn). Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 McDonald's), the leading French club and 4th in the ranking in 2023-24, are in 6th place in 2024-25 (€772m).

Real Madrid CF, 8th, are the leading club in LALIGA EA Sports (€720m), two places ahead of Juventus FC (€626m, Serie A Enilive), 10th and the leading Italian club. You have to drop down to 11th place to find the Bundesliga's leading representative, FC Bayern Munich (€588m).
