Ligue 1: Pernod Ricard "regrets the fuss" surrounding announcement of its partnership with Paris SG

Pernod Ricard, a French spirits producer, has said it "regrets the fuss" and "lack of understanding" caused by the announcement of its partnership with Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 McDonald's ) on 02/09, a group spokesperson told France Bleu Provence on 03/09/2024.

Fans in Marseille have denounced the agreement between the Paris club and the group, which was formed in 1975 from the merger of the Pernaud and Ricard groups (founded by Paul Ricard, a native of Marseille, in 1932) and whose head office is still in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), notably through a call for a boycott (#BoycottPernodRicard on social networks).

The company explains that this four-season partnership (2024-2028) is international in scope and covers all 240 brands of the Pernod Ricard group, not just the aniseed-flavoured aperitif Ricard.
