France: launch of 18 Canal+ Live channels for European Cups & a multiplex on Canal+ Sport 360

Canal+ will roll out 18 additional "Canal+ Live" channels to broadcast matches from the three men's European Cups during the 2024-25 season, announced the French pay and free-TV group at its sports conference for the new season on 04/09/2024.

Canal+ obtained the full broadcasting rights to the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League for the 2024-2027 cycle on 29/06/2022. According to the sports daily L'Équipe, it bought these rights for an annual sum of €480m. The free-to-air rights to the Champions League final over the same period were acquired by the free-TV group M6 for €4m per season, according to L'Équipe.

The Vivendi subsidiary, which will also broadcast matches on the Canal+, Canal+ Sport and Canal+ Foot channels, will be offering a "totally innovative multiplex with the best live news features, drop-down menus and alerts, statistics and cutting-edge infographics" on Canal+ Sport 360 each evening of the competition. On 14/09, it will also launch a UHD HDR channel that will broadcast "at least four sporting events per week".
