Atlético Madrid: Baku 2015 European Games logo present on the shirt in the derby against Real Madrid

The logo for the 2015 European Games in Baku (the capital of Azerbaijan) appeared on the front of the shirt of the Spanish club Atlético Madrid in the derby against Real Madrid CF(4-0, Matchday 22 of the Liga BBVA) on 07/02/2015.

The Azerbaijan national tourism office, which hopes to increase the profile of the competition which will take place in the country from 12 to 28/06/2015, paid Atlético Madrid an estimated €12m in 2014-15. For the Madrid derby "Baku 2015" temporarily replaced the words "Azerbaijan, Land of Fire", which has been the permanent logo on Atlético Madrid's shirt since December 2012. The words "Baku 2015 European Games" were also temporarily visible on the club's shirts in November and December 2013.

• The first European Games will be played in Baku (AZE) from 12 to 28/06/2015.
  • This sports competition is organised by the European Olympic Committees.
  • 49 European federations will participate.
