Transfers: €86bn spent by clubs between 2015 and 2024 (CIES)

Clubs around the world spent €86.15bn on the transfer market between 2015 and 2024, according to the CIES Football Observatory's monthly report published on 07/09/2024, so after the end of the 2024 summer transfer window. €10.96bn were spent in 2024, or 12.7% of the total.

English clubs alone accounted for €23.02bn in spending over the period 2015-2024, or 26.7% of the total. They are ahead of the Italian clubs (€10.8bn, 12.5%) and the Spanish clubs (€7.94bn, 9.2%).

The Liga Portugal Betclic clubs have had the most positive balance since 2015, with a net balance of €2.34bn. They are ahead of the Sky Bet Championship clubs (+€1.5bn) and the Eredivisie clubs (+€1.49bn). Conversely, it is the Premier League clubs that have the biggest negative balance sheet, at -€11.54bn, well ahead of those in the Saudi Pro League (-€1.81bn) and Serie A Enilive (-€1.46bn).
