2024-25 LALIGA EA Sports: China Media Group (CCTV) acquires free-to-air broadcasting rights in China

China Media Group (CMG), China's leading state-owned media group and parent company of China's state broadcaster CCTV, has acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights to LALIGA EA Sports, in China, for the 2024-25 season, announced LALIGA on 11/09/2024.

The broadcasting rights to the Spanish league in this territory are also held by the Chinese telecommunications operator China Mobile, owner of the OTT platform Migu, over the 2022-2025 period.

"The signing marks a significant milestone in LALIGA’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in the Chinese market. Under this new agreement, Chinese fans will be able to watch LALIGA live matches across various platforms under China Media Group. Both LALIGA and CMG are committed to furthering football exchanges between Spain and China, fostering strategic collaborations that will elevate the sport and deepen cultural ties between the two nations," said the Spanish body, which had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese group "to drive strategic football exchanges between China and Spain" on 29/07/2024.
