WNBA: record audience for the regular season on ESPN in the United States (+170% vs 2023)

The 2024 WNBA regular season, which kicked off on 13/05 (and runs until 19/09/2024), posted a 170% increase in viewers in the United States on the channels of the pay and free-TV group ESPN compared to the 2023 season, announced the group owned by the entertainment and media conglomorate The Walt Disney Company on 11/09/2024.

The WNBA's regular season matches drew an average of 1.2 million viewers on the broadcasting group's channels, according to data from the American institute Nielsen.

The broadcasting rights to the 2024 WNBA season in the United States are held by the American groups CBS (20 regular season games), Amazon (21 games), EPSN (25 games), Ion Television (owned by Scripps Networks, 43 games) and NBA TV (40 games). ESPN also broadcasts the play-offs and the finals (maximum 27 matches).

WNBA domestic TV rights also awarded to Disney, NBC & Amazon for 11 seasons (2026-2036) for $2.2bn ($200/year)
