Everton FC: "There remains some work to be done to complete the transaction with John Textor"

"The club is aware of the comments made by John Textor in relation to a potential purchase of Everton FC (Premier League). While positive conversations and progress continues to be made with John Textor to formalise any deal with him, there remains some work to be done to complete the transaction," said Everton on 12/09/2024.

"Accordingly, the comments made by John Textor merely represent his personal view on club matters," added the club, reacting to comments made by the American president of Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's), who said the previous day: "The acquisition of Everton would be made using my own financing, and I would buy it in my capacity as John Textor, not via Eagle Football Group. There is a good chance that this will happen, but the owner has several offers on the table."
