Netherlands: NOS acquires the exclusive TV rights to the 2026 and 2030 World Cups

NOS has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights, in the Netherlands, to the 2026 World Cup (co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico) and the 2030 World Cup (sole candidate: joint bid from Morocco, Portugal and Spain, designation at the end of 2024), announced the Dutch public broadcasting group on 13/09/2024.

The group already held the exclusive TV rights for the 2022 World Cup in this territory. FIFA launched the call for tenders for the broadcasting rights to the 2026 and 2030 World Cups in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg on 17/01/2024.

In France, the M6 group acquired the exclusive free-to-air broadcasting rights in France to 54 matches from the 2026 World Cup and the same number from the 2030 World Cup on 07/03/2024. These rights were acquired for a sum close to €240m, according to the French daily Le Figaro on 08/03/2024.
