IOC: 7 candidates to succeed Thomas Bach, including Sebastian Coe (GBR) & David Lappartient (FRA)

"Seven candidates will compete in the election for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee at the 143^rd IOC Session held from 18 to 21/03/2025 in Greece," announced the international body on 16/09/2024.

These seven candidates, who are all IOC members and who had until midnight on 15/09/2024 to submit their candidature to the IOC, are:
• Prince Feisal Al Hussein (JOR, individual member)
• Sebastian Coe (GBR, president of World Athletics)
• Kirsty Coventry (ZIM, former member of the Athletes' Commission, currently an individual member)
• Johan Eliasch (SWE, president of the International Ski Federation)
• David Lappartient (FRA, president of the UCI)
• Juan Antonio Samaranch (ESP, individual member)
• Morinari Watanabe (JPN, president of the International Gymnastics Federation)

All of them will present their programmes to all the other IOC members "on the occasion of a meeting to be held (behind closed doors) in Lausanne (Switzerland) in January 2025."
