France: "I'd like to discuss the creation of a professional third division" (P. Diallo, FFF)

"I would like to launch a discussion on the creation of a professional third division ("Ligue 3") in the next term of office. Mechanically, the National 1 is increasingly made up of clubs with professional status, and the sporting conditions are those of a high-level division, but it lacks the revenue to be a real professional league. The challenge is to support the development of this division's resources to turn it into a real professional league," said Philippe Diallo, president of the Fédération Française de Football, to the French regional daily newspaper Le Bien Public on 14/09/2024.

"We launched the Ligue de Football Féminine Professionnel (LFFP) on 01/07/2024. We have provided this league with substantial financial and human resources to ensure that the French national team's good results translate into similar results for the clubs. And we're aiming to fill stadiums to capacity, because our clubs don't get enough support," added Diallo regarding the LFFP, ahead of the 2024-25 Arkema Première Ligue season which will begin on Friday 20/09/2024.
