UEFA European Cups: the 2024-25 season kicks off with new format

A total of 108 European clubs are taking part in the new league phase of the UEFA European Cups, with 36 teams competing in each of the three competitions. The Champions League is the first to roll out the new format, with a week dedicated exclusively to it, from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19/09/2024 (six matches per evening). The following week will be devoted solely to the Europa League, with nine matches on both Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26/09/2024, while the Conference League will kick off a week later, sharing the bill with the Champions League on Wednesday 02 and with the Europa League on Thursday 03/10/2024.

Each team competing in the Champions League and Europa League will play eight matches - four at home and four away - against different opponents on each occasion. In the Conference League, there will be six matches (three at home and three away), which explains the latest European club competition's later start.

The top eight in the final standings will qualify directly for the Round of 16, the clubs ranked between ninth and 24^th will take part in play-offs with the winners…
