Italy: Socios.com (crypto) extends as official partner of Lega Serie A from 2024-25

Socios.com, a cryptocurrency blockchain platform owned by ChiliZ and Mediarex Sports & Entertainment, has extended as an official partner of Lega Serie A from 2024-25, announced the Italian professional league on 17/09/2024. The two parties have been linked since 2021.

As part of the agreement, Socios.com and the Lega Serie A are offering holders of fan tokens the opportunity to purchase the balls used to score goals in the Serie A Enilive, Coppa Italia Frecciarossa and EA SPORTS FC Supercup matches. Since 2022-23, 188 balls have been collected by fans from 16 different countries.

This initiative is being extended for the 2024-25 season, during which balls used to score goals from 100 matches in the three competitions will be available for fans to purchase via the Socios.com application. The balls will be fitted with an NFC (near field communication) chip that will enable their owners to access a certificate of authenticity, issued by the ChiliZ blockchain, as well as footage of the goal.
