Liverpool FC (Premier League) posted a turnover of €686m for the 2022-23 financial year (from 01/07/2022 to 30/06/2023), 70% more than AC Milan (Serie A Enilive) with €404m, as the two clubs prepare to face each other on Matchday 1 of the new Champions League campaign on Tuesday 17/09/2024 (kick-off at 21:00 CET) at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (Milan, ITA).

In the same 2022-23 season, Liverpool FC's wage bill (€383m) was 2.2 times higher than that of their rivals (€174m). However, that season ended with a net profit (€6.1m) for AC Milan, the first time the Italian club had made a profit since 2006, while Liverpool posted a loss of €8m.

LFC, owned by the American fund Fenway Sports Group, have had a higher brand value than AC Milan, whose owner is also an American fund, RedBird Capital Partners, since August 2022. Liverpool were 4^th place in the 2024 edition of the annual ranking of football clubs published by the American magazine Forbes, with an estimated value of $5.37bn, well ahead of the Lombardy club in 14^th place ($1.43bn).
