Luton Town FC: planning permission sought for new 25,000-seat stadium

Luton Town FC, relegated to the Sky Bet Championship at the end of the 2023-24 season, have applied to Luton Town Council (England) for planning permission for a new 25,000-seat stadium, announced the club on 13/09/2024.

The project is being undertaken by 2020 Developments, a subsidiary of the club set up for the purpose. It involves the construction of a stadium on the Power Court brownfield site in Luton town centre. The club had spent nearly £10m (€11.6m) to bring its stadium, Kenilworth Road, up to Premier League standards for 2023-24, its first season in the top flight since 1991-92.

"The submission of detailed plans to Luton Borough Council is a defining milestone in the delivery of a sustainable long-term home for Luton Town Football Club, the increasing ambitions the club has for its football team and as a vital catalyst in marking a regenerative era for the town," added the club, which also hopes to build a hotel and concert hall as part of the project.
