MLS: Marcelo Claure becomes a minority shareholder (10%) & vice chairman of New York City FC

Bolivian Marcelo Claure, "founder and CEO of Claure Group, a global investment firm deploying proprietary capital across AI and technology, climate and energy transition, and lifestyle and entertainment" has become a minority shareholder and vice chairman of New York City FC (MLS) "with an investment equivalent to approximately 10% of the company's post-investment value," announced the North American franchise on 17/09/2024.

Marcelo Claure now owns 10% of City Football Group US Holdco LLC, the company that owns both New York City FC and the club's future stadium at Willets Point in Queens (New York, USA), scheduled for completion in 2027. The other two shareholders in the company are the founders of the New York franchise: City Football Group (80%) and Yankee Global Entreprises (10%).

This "new strategic investment strengthens the relationship between City Football Group and Marcelo Claure," explained the franchise.
