Royal Belgian Football Association: Peter Willems appointed CEO until 01/01/2026

Peter Willems has been appointed CEO of the Royal Belgian Football Association until 01/01/2026 by the Association's board of directors, announced the RBFA on 20/09/2024. Willems will succeed Piet Vandendriessche, who was dismissed with immediate effect on 28/08/2024

"Peter Willems joined the RBFA in February 2024. First as head of refereeing, then, since April, as director of sport. This role has now been expanded. To keep the workload manageable, the sports department will no longer report directly to Peter Willems, but to a sports committee within the board of directors. Peter is now joining this sports committee," explained the Belgian Football Association, regarding the man who was CEO of OH Leuven (Jupiler Pro League) from 2019 to 2023 and UEFA's head of marketing activities and sponsorship between 2005 and 2018.

"With this appointment, the board aims to provide calm and stability, and to ensure the smooth running of the RBFA. At the same time, it will continue to fulfil its role as a strategic body, taking the necessary time to better define its long-term functioning," added…
