2025 Club World Cup: FIFA calls "emergency briefing" on 20/09 due to lack of broadcasters (press)

Gianni Infantino president of FIFA is holding an "emergency briefing" this Friday 20/09/2024 with "global television executives" in a bid to arouse their interest in the 2025 Club World Cup, for which no media rights agreements have yet been signed, according to the American daily The Athletic on 19/09/2024.

FIFA has issued several calls for tenders for the TV rights to the 2025 and 2029 editions of this first 32-team Club World Cup in various territories including America, Asia, MENA, Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. However, no agreement has been announced as of 20/09/2024.

In June 2024, the American electronics group Apple reportedly submitted an offer of $1bn for the global TV rights to the 2025 edition of the tournament, according to American media. However, this offer was not accepted by FIFA, which is hoping to obtain $4bn in TV rights revenue for the competition, which will be held in the United States from 15/06 to 13/07/2025.
