IOC: Toyota (automotive manufacturer) will not renew its "Top" global partnership after 2024

Car manufacturer Toyota will not be renewing its global partnership with the International Olympic Committee, which expires at the end of 2024, announced Akio Toyoda, CEO of the Japanese group, on 26/09/2024. However, the company "will continue to support athletes," confirmed Toyoda.

In 2015, the group based in the city of Toyota (Aichi prefecture) became the first car manufacturer to commit to the IOC, as a "mobility partner." Since the beginning of the partnership, the Japanese group is said to have paid "more than JPY100bn (over €585m)", according to Japanese media outlet Kyodo on 24/05/2024.

Toyota initially wanted to extend its Paralympic Games partnership with the IPC after the Paris 2024 Games, but under the current agreement between the IOC and the IPC, the Olympic Committee's global partners are automatically committed to the IPC, which is therefore unable to enter into global partnerships.
